2009 Vintage

10/19/09-  Another great growing season for Wahluke AVA grapes.  Harvest was a little out of order.  Merlot, Cab Franc, Cab Sav, and Syrah was the pick order.  First 3 are all now in barrel and undergoing M/L (secondary) fermentation.  We picked the Syrah the day before the freeze (early Sunday morning 10/11/09) and it should be ready this weekend to put in barrel.  We have re-organized our small facility and are crushing more tons this year.  When completed, we expect to have about 60 barrels of the 09 vintage.  This should result in approximately 1,300 cases when bottled. 

The '09 harvest numbers (brix, pH, and TA) as well as flavors all came in excellent.  Again, the Mattawa area has no trouble producing ripe and flavorful grapes.  The Merlot was noticeably aromatic during fermentation, and all have great color.
